Name: Quori Alexander
Job Title: Fulcrum Intern
Education: High school Graduate
What inspired you to enter your career-field?
I’ve always had a passion for construction and watching different things get built. Growing up my parents always had my siblings and I work on different things around the house from patching holes and painting to building chicken coops. I enjoy watching the projects progress into great achievements for us to look back on. The career field I would like to move forward in has not been decided yet. There are so many things I want to learn and I’m not sure if I’m ready to pick only one just yet.
What are a few of your day-to-day responsibilities?
My responsibilities during the night shift are moving between the trades and learning as much as I can. There isn’t really a task that repeats many times besides cleaning up towards the end. Majority of the time I’m with the subcontractors learning how their trade works and the way they do things.
What’s one piece of advice that you would give to a young professional?
One piece of advice I would give to a young professional would be to always ask questions. I’ve learned that there is nothing wrong with asking questions because it only makes you better at whatever it is your learning. I myself ask tons a questions just so I can learn more and be more assistance eventually.
Are there any short-term or long-term goals that you have for yourself?
A short-term goal for myself would be to learn as much about the trades that interest me the most in the time frame of the project. A long term goal would be to work hard and eventually work for a construction company or even one of the subcontractors and after that continue to learn and expand my knowledge of the trade to become the best I can be at it.
