Headquartered in North Texas, The Crowther Group is a company that has a reputation of delivering the highest quality projects for the best price and a commitment to igniting change that impacts lives in diverse communities.

Recently, ConstructReach had a chance speak with Destiny Carillo, who is currently interning with The Crowther Group via their partnership with Dallas ISP P-TECH (Pathways to Technology Early College High School).

Why did you pick your major?

“Majoring in Digital Media gives me the opportunity to express my creative talents and diverse skills such as graphic design, illustration, and animation. With animation, it’s fun to design moving images to help tell a story in a meaningful way. On the other hand, graphic designing and illustrating provides a space for me to create various forms of art in multiple perspectives”.

I know you have a passion for graphic designing and creating. Based on your interests, what can you offer to the construction industry?

“We have practiced in digital marketing and advertising which allows us to actually expand to different communities and communicate what we do as a company. Not only that, but who we are, and how we help everything around us”.

Generally, what do you feel like young people can learn about the construction industry?

“While they may see physical labor on the actual construction site, there are other career paths within this field, and many people our age are unaware of this. Of course you see contractors using tools and heavy machinery, but plenty of other opportunities exist in this industry”.

Can you walk me through a project you worked on at The Crowther Group?

“We’ve been working on recreating the pamphlets for The Crowther Group by adding a bit more detail, useful information and pictures. As well as cleaning up the edges for the pamphlet because there was difficulty viewing the font with the previous version. Overall, just changing the structure and applying a few concepts to make the pamphlet appealing to the eye”.

What’s an accomplishment you’re most proud of?

“I recently was accepted to Pratt Institute in New York. I’m terrified, but I couldn’t be more excited for the upcoming experience. I’d received a letter from them in the mail letting me know that my GPA was coming along great, and they were excited for me to attend their university. Once I actually had the chance to research, this was one of the only schools that caught my attention, while others seemed kind of bland”.
